In second grade she began exasperating her Catholic school teachers with her questions about religion. After moving to Crested Butte, Colorado in 1996, it was this interest in philosophy which led Ann to her first Iyengar yoga class with Gary Reitze.

    Britta Eumann started practicing yoga almost 10 years ago when looking for a movement practice that she could fit into a busy traveling and work schedule. "I went to a Yoga 101 workshop at my gym and was immediately hooked." Through many trainings and workshops, she became a yoga therapist in order to offer a yoga practice that is truly accessible, especially to those that don't fit the flexible yoga student stereotype.

    Jennie Williford is a Level 3 CIYT currently living in LaCrosse, WI, where she teaches regularly for The Yoga Place and online for Riverstone Yoga Center in Kalispell, MT where she also used to live. She has a deep love for the Iyengar Yoga community of the Midwest and is grateful for the opportunity to teach for Yoga Horizons. Through her many moves and trips to India, Jennie has developed a well-rounded approach to Iyengar Yoga and emphasizes the understanding of yoga philosophy along with the physical subject of asana. She knows the study of yoga can be intense and transformative, but also knows that joy and fun are key elements of our practice as well.

    When at the tender age of 15 Kathleen Wright was given and read the autobiography of Mahatma Gandhi, she began her pursuit of Yoga. She is the founder and director of the Garden of Yoga (La Grange, IL), and cofounder of the former Yoga Circle and Wild Onion Yoga studios in Chicago. Together Kathleen and Patricia Layton founded the Bhavana Institute for Yoga and Ayurveda.

    Natasha Julius began studying Iyengar yoga as a way to cross-train for the year-round Chicago floor hockey season. She soon traded in her sticks and shin pads for bolsters and blocks, delighted to find a practice that kept her physically and mentally challenged while significantly reducing her risk of being struck by flying objects.

    Rhonda Duffaut took her first Iyengar yoga class after ACL surgery repaired her knee but left her feeling imbalanced physically and emotionally. As an athlete, she was enthralled by how the practice enhanced her confidence in herself along with her physical abilities. She trained at the Iyengar Institute in San Francisco, and practiced in Pune and at Yoga Circle, after moving to Chicago. She is grateful to her teachers for passing on their knowledge and enthusiasm that she will be able to share at Yoga Horizons.

    David Carpenter was the owner of Yoga Circle (later Yoga Horizons) from 2018 until 2022. A dedicated student, Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher (CIYT), and contributor to and leader in the Iyengar Yoga community, we honor his memory. He passed away from pancreatic cancer in July 2022.
